What will Bob Todd do with the mess of a pitching staff he has? Players injuried, a couple needing surgery, short staff as is. How can the team advance past Regionals with the pitching corp they have??!?!
Boy we mss Bangston..

I'm not as worried as some about the pitching staff. Last year the same stories and concerns were being told, and outside of the end of year shellings, and Ball State game the staff did ok. Now did the staff get put in uncompromising positions (overuse) and have led us to some of the problems that are present? Probably. But also consider the Bucks haven't seen a 100% Andrew Armstrong, who was good enough to be drafted by the Braves, more than likely did not utilize Best and Rucinski in the correct forms.
Anyhow, there are questions, but the questions should not equal worry yet. The staff will get a shot in the arm with a McKinney coming in. Wimmers, Wolo, Rucinski on the weekends, with McKinney/Oltorik/Armstrong midweek (the Bucks will only have 1 week of 2 midweek games) Oltorik/McKinney/Armstrong/Strayer out of the pen with Best closing, it doesn't look that bad.
But again we have to see how Armstrong and Best return from injury. Worst case Rucinski is the closer, McKinney/Oltorik battle for mid-week/Sunday starter, with the rest out of the pen.

you are the absolute optimist. Historically, OSU is unable to sustain with its pitching at the end of the year when it counts the most. Seeing as the only constant has been the head coach, I would suggest that he needs to concentrate on game management and entrust his staff to a qualified coach and allow that individual to prepare the staff. Bangs will not be back and he was a very good instructor. This is a moot point as the head coach has not changed his approach to this point so it is unrealistic to expect him to do so in the future!!

I'm in the middle. It can't possibly be as bad as last year, BUT what has the staff done to show it will get better. BG hit the nail on the head in regards to Bob Todd not willing to give up control. Parker might be a good guy, but come on you plug a HS JV coach as the one in charge of a DI staff?

Armstrong appears to be a scratch for 2010. His injury was more severe than Best's and a decision will be made later in the year, but I can't see him using a year of eiligibility for a couple of appearances.
Best is on track and rehabbing is on schedule. Still unsure what role he will be used.
Talking to the players McKinney is filthy and a big addition. Oltorik is throwing well and appears to be the player many thought he would coming out of HS.
