Shawnee swept Point Park this weekend. The pitching continues to be a problem. After the first two starters and the closer, things really get shaky. Not sure how Ohio Dominican is playing, but they may be the first test that the bears have in the north.

I was just looking at the box scores from the weekend and ODU swept Lake Erie to go to 9-18 on the year. Not sure what's up with them, but 9-18 is very un-ODU like.

Shawnee and ODU split over the weekend. Shawnee had good pitching Saturday, ODU had good pitching Sunday. End of story.

Shawnee took 2 from Cedarville Saturday. We play the rainouts today. We are alone at the top of the the AMC, but haven't played anyone in the conference with a winning record. Friday and Saturday we play Malone. It should give us an idea where we are at.

I'm a glass half full guy so I would spin that SSU has taken care of business. 11-1 is 11-1. Their schedule may be back loaded, but at least they've taken care of business and put them themselves in a position to finish strong. Too many times teams will overlook one of those teams and slip up and get through that stretch 9-3 or something.
I'm a little surprised Malone dropped 3 of 4 to NDC. I know ND is better than in the past, but I didn't think they were that good. Certainly not good enough to win the series. Maybe Malone isn't quite as good as I thought?

Also, it's so hard to read the standings because some teams have played 12 AMC games and others have played 20. Obviously that's only 2 series, but that a lot of games.

Well, Shawnee won the AMC. We waited until the last game of the season to do it, but, we did it.

Did you see the AMC awards? Did you see that 2 of the 1st teamers had 21 and 32 starts, and the 21 start player beat a player with 54 starts? How ridiculous. Ted Tom should be ashamed for not sticking up for his players.

IMO Matt Anderson also was stiffed for 1st team. 400 average, 500 onbase percentage and 6 dingers in a true minor league park. He gets beat out by 348, 427 and 7 on a field whose fence dimensions are 347 feet. Really? Both these guys are fine players, but you take the meaning out of these awards when you see inconsistencies like this.

Last but not least, coach of the year. Winning the league says a lot. You gotta give Coach Tom that. He didn't have a lot of pitching to work with. I think the NDC coach deserves mention for bringing that program to life. Also, the Mt.Vernon coach for his strategy in the championship tournament game. It took Shawnee 9 runs to realize that first pitch fastball wasn't a good idea. Mt. Vernon players are a classy group. I was impressed by their behavior during games. That says volumes about a coach.

NAIA informed Walsh and Malone after 2010-2011 athletic season, they would not be eligible for playoff or tourney play. Also not eligible for Div. II play during transitional period (2 years).
