Oh, they're fine Gramps. Way, way too much talent to panic at all. It's just a rough patch. And their pitching is superior so they can weather little rough patches. Best to work out the kinks now as opposed to conference play!

this will be a great test for the Case team. getting a chance to play one of the top teams in the nation, will hopefully prepare this team for it's first ever trip to the regionals.

I love it when teams schedule games like this, Joe. It gives Case a great chance to see how they stack up and they have nothing to lose. And a win is a highlight on the resume and a huge confidence boost.

Berg bats are awake....up 8-4 in the 6th over Case.
Wooster now leading Wabash 2-0. McDowell not surprisingly has been strong so far.

Denison leads Hiram 3-0 in the 3rd.
And just like that I jinx Wooster and Wabash ties it up 2-2 with a homer.
Trailing 5-0 to Gheny, Witt plates 2 in the 4th and 6 in the 5th to take an 8-5 lead into the 6th. This would be a nice win for Witt if they hold on.

Chad, you are correct, it would be and it was, a sweep for Witt today vs. Allegheny, game 1 9-5, and game 2, Witt wins 4-2. So, yes 2 big wins in the NCAC to begin the conference season. Pitching held up after a rocky start in the 1st game. The offense got going and it all carried over into game 2. At Wabash tomorrow 1:00pm start, hope things can continue over there.

Denison continues their winning streak sweeping Hiram by the score of 9-1 and 7-4. Seems like Vaske has knocked off the rust after his opening starts. He threw another complete game allowing 3 hits and allowing one unearned run.
Taking down Marietta must have sparked the Big Red, showing they can compete with anybody. Go get the Gators tomorrow who must be hungry after their losses today to Witt today. I'm excited to see who Denison sends out on the mound since they have some guys with low ERA's with starting experience.
I'm sure all of Ohio baseball will be rooting them on as they take on the dreaded PA school.
Hope everyone is doing well following their teams!

Etta gets back on track with a 9-2 win over Montclair State. Brian Gasser was brilliant throwing 7 inn, just 2 hits and 2 late runs after he had a no hitter through 6 1/2 IP. He moves to 5-0 with a 1.16 ERA on the season. The offense exploded for 16 hits as the final hit tallies were 16 to 2. Now 14-2 on the season

Ok, Wabash took the scene from Bull Durham, where a man made Rain Out would occur and the team would get an off day from playing. Other than the fact it was 34 degrees out. The new sprinkler system at the new Wabash Ballpark was left on, as ice formed over most of the outfield and infield, even though the infield was tarped. It was deemed unplayable. This decision was made, after Wittenberg buses all the way out there and get off the bus to see the mess. Not to mention a group of parents who made the 3 and a half hour trip. So, it has been rescheduled for Sunday April 17th. Great day for a drive!

^^^ That's insane!! I would be P*SSED if I was Witt. I guess it would be worse if they rescheduled for tomorrow, but still aggravating this way. And how was their sprinkler system on? Is it automated?
p.s. Great sweep for Witt. With Wooster splitting that's exactly what the Tigers needed to keep their focus razor sharp out of the gate.

If I remember correctly, it seemed like Vaske turned it up a notch in NCAC games. Maybe he's just one of those guys who pitches his best when it means more. Not a bad trait for your #1 pitcher. And yes, we should ALL be rooting for ANY of our teams against Gheny and Wabash! Unless of course it's the end of the season and your team needs another Ohio team to lose to make the conference tournament. In which case I understand.

That trio of starters with Lindquist in the pen is scary. I know it's early, but I'm already going on the record saying that it's a shame that only one of these Ohio teams can go to Appleton.

B-W gets a nice sweep of Malone on Saturday. 7-0 and 2-1, so great pitching again from Havens and Scott. And Malone is a good NAIA program (19-9) so those are quality road wins.

Coach Lewis was not a bit happy, but I'm not sure what else they can do. I wonder what the NCAC office has any input on this kind of an issue? To answer your question though, what we were told, was it is a automated system, but why not shut it off? They know they have Witt coming for a DH the next day? I know it's a new field and all, but we have certainly had enough rain the past couple of weeks. I will survive one more day. As well as the Tigers have been playing, maybe the Little Giants needed a rain out? Witt has a couple of non league games this week, begining on Tuesday vs. Mt. St. Joe at Univ. of Cinn. at 7:00pm. Then Thursday at home vs. Wilmington also at 7:00pm.
